The Vale occurrence is located on a branch of Sandpile Creek, about 130 kilometres northeast of the community of Dease Lake.

Mineralization is reported to consist of massive pyrite, marcasite, sphalerite, galena and barite as fracture fillings in sheared and brecciated dolomite, quartzite, slate and greenstone of the Cambrian-Ordovician Kechika Group.

In 1976, Cominco Ltd. cut eight kilometres of baseline and collected 311 soil samples on the Sand 1-2 claims.
